Work Editorial's Stewart Reeves Edits Apple's Woodland Holiday Mini-Musical

December 3, 2025

Apple embraces woodland whimsy in its 2025 holiday ad, as forest puppets steal the show in a mini-musical from TBWA\Media Arts Lab.

The short film, titled “A Critter Carol,” is centered around a group of woodland puppets that stumble upon an iPhone 17 Pro that’s been dropped by a hiker in a snowy forest. The critters soon use the phone to record their own exuberant music video. Their performance riffs on “Friends” by Flight of the Conchords and doubles as a showcase for the phone’s latest camera tricks, including advanced zoom and tools that keep subjects framed even when they wander.

Smuggler’s Mark Molloy directed the piece—an Apple veteran who has created most of the “Underdogs” films.
