Step Into the Editing Suite of Consulate’s Antonio Sanchez
August 29, 2024Antonio Sanchez is a creative director and editor at Consulate, a post house that collaborates with directors, photographers, brands and artists on all forms of content, from commercials, films and installations to all the various social posts and music videos in between.
He has edited projects for Louis Vuitton, St. John’s, Kenneth Cole, Versace and many other fashion brands. We reached out to him to find out more about his path and his workflows.
What does your role entail?
For me, editing is about responding to someone else’s ideas and intentions using the prism of your own experience to guide you through assembling a story that is engaging. You try to manipulate the footage to create an idea that works in harmony with the ethos of a brand or a director or a photographer. And we also take all the raw parts that have been captured and shape them to deliver a polished, finished product.
What would surprise people the most about what falls under your titles?
Probably that most of the work you do is actually about the relationships you maintain through the projects you work on together. It’s successful when you build trust and a shorthand that allows you to take chances with the work, and when someone believes you are the right person for the job.
