Partizan's Michel Gondry Directs Film for Chanel Starring Margaret Qualley and A$AP Rocky

December 10, 2025

It’s been a good year for fashion films (the Prada spot by Yorgos Lanthimos having made our best ads of the year list), and here’s another fun one: a short film from Chanel directed by Partizan’s Michel Gondry and starring Margaret Qualley and A$AP Rocky.

The quirky and charming short, totally dialogue free with original music by Le Motel, features Qualley and Rocky as a couple waking up together in their New York apartment. As Qualley gets dressed up for a rather surreal trip on mass transit, Rocky scampers about, mostly in his pajamas, on a mission that reveals itself only at the end.

The project reunites Gondry with cinematographer Ellen Kuras. The pair worked together on 2004’s “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” Vanity Fair has a behind-the-scenes peek into the October shoot, which caused a bit of a stir when they filmed the final scene outside the Astor Place subway station.
