Gravy Films EP Ally Gnesin Talks Developing Her Producing Style With LBB
June 23, 2026Ally Gnesin is executive producer at Gravy Films. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she has been working in the commercial production industry since 2011. She joined Gravy Films in early 2023, and since then has been working closely with directors, agencies and clients to achieve the best form of collaboration, from creation through to post.
With over 15 years of commercial production experience, Ally has a deep love for the creative process and the logistical puzzles of film and commercial production, and strives towards the ultimate goal of making cool things with cool people.
Ally sat down with LBB to discuss her lifelong fascination with production, and her love for on-set problem solving and production communities.
LBB> What first attracted you to production - and has it been an industry you’ve always worked in, or did you come to it from another area?Ally> I grew up in South Pasadena during a time when it was the go-to ‘anywhere America’ location for filming, so it was normal to stumble on a commercial or film set walking home from school.
At a pretty young age, I became deeply fascinated with how commercials, films and TV shows got made. When I moved home from college, I had a short stint interning at a documentary production company and then I was fortunate enough to get PA opportunities in the commercial world to be able to lean into that full-time.
And well, here I am 15 years later, so I guess this is the only career I know at this point, which is kind of bananas to think about.
LBB> What was your first role in the production world and how did this experience influence how you think about production and how you grew your career?Ally> I had just moved back to LA after college and was hired as a set PA on a seven-day beast of a commercial. I had no idea what I was doing, wore a pair of shoes that were trying to kill me, and nearly lost multiple fingers trying to put up a pop-up over a lunch table, but I was so hooked after that first day on set.
