Chromista's Mynxii White on Her Spellbook Journal, Silver Candelabra, and Neverending Chess Game

November 6, 2025

Chromista director, photographer and visual artist, Mynxii White, reveals the cameras, curiosities, and candelabras that keep her creativity fuelled. My workspace is a collage of influences - a candelabra on the table, fruit in a silver bowl, walls crowded with art, and a chess set waiting in the corner. It’s not curated to be “neat” so much as lived-in mythmaking. It feels like stepping into my head - rituals, inspirations and stories waiting to happen. I spend a lot of time here, so I like to make it beautiful and warm.

The JournalI like to match all my in-bag basics: my iPhone, my journal or planner, and my Kindle. All in black crocodile, and monogrammed if I can customise them. I need to keep my tools organised so I don’t let the thoughts I have around and in them escape and disappear into the void. Inside, it’s notes, sketches, story fragments and symbols I come back to constantly. This is where my films and projects first take shape. It’s part diary, part spellbook.
