Chromista's Kasra Farahani Directs Samsung Spot Starring Spider-Man Ahead of July 31 Movie Premiere

July 23, 2026

Alongside the web-swinging, wall-crawling and quips, Spider-Man is known for his gadgets. And now, Samsung Galaxy devices can be counted among them.

Samsung puts phones through the rigors of superhero life in the latest installment of its partnership with Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Directed by Marvel alum Kasra Farahani, a nearly two-minute spot from Chromista takes place largely inside Peter Parker’s apartment, where a machine produces phones designed to survive the general chaos that comes with being Spider-Man.

Seeing the superhero suffer one broken phone after another during his exploits, the machine creates a Samsung Galaxy phone that will presumably stand up to the hits Spidey will undoubtedly take. The device has a spine-like vertical fold and opens like a book—a “hint at what’s to come from Samsung Galaxy’s next chapter,” according to the brand. The on-screen copy at the end reads, “A brand new shape for a Brand New Day.”

The story is intercut with footage from the movie, which arrives in theaters July 31, and includes Easter eggs teasing both the film and Samsung’s next generation of Galaxy products.

The campaign also continues the story of Spidey Tracker, an interactive website that Samsung and Sony introduced in June. Created by character Ned Leeds, played by Jacob Batalon, the tracker lets fans follow reported Spider-Man sightings and uncover exclusive content online and at real-world activations. Batalon is also joining Samsung’s roster of Galaxy ambassadors, while the spot sets up another chapter of the campaign scheduled to unfold during Galaxy Unpacked on July 22.

Sony Pictures has been introducing more brands into the world of its new film as of late. Earlier this week, Liquid I.V. released its own campaign starring Batalon as Leeds, who is saved several times by Spider-Man unwittingly on his journey to purchase Liquid I.V.
